Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any substitutions for the almond flour?

Yes! You can use regular bread crumbs or gluten-free breadcrumbs if you are not Paleo or doing Whole 30.

Can I use other ground meat?

Absolutely! You can use ground chicken, ground beef, or even a mixture of ground beef and sausage. I don’t use ground chicken breast or ground turkey breast as it results in dry meatballs.

Are these meatballs Keto?

Yes. If you are following the recipe they are Keto compliant and Paleo.

What is the best way to store them?

I keep them in an airtight container or in a storage or freezer bag.

Can I use any other marinara sauce?

Although I highly reccomend Rao’s feel free to use your favorite marinara sauce but if on Whole 30 make sure there is no sugar is added.

  • 2 lbs ground turkey (dark meat)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 2 Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped, plus more for garnish
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 2 24 oz. jars Rao's Marinara Sauce

Instructions

  • In a large bowl add all of the meatball ingredients and using you hands or a spatula mix well.
  • Form meat mixture in to 1.5 inch sized meatballs using your hands or a cookie scoop and place them in a bowl or on a cookie sheet.
  • Add oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the meatballs 1-2 minutes per side or until they are golden brown all the way around. They do not have to be fully cooked as they will continue to cook in the marinara sauce.
  • Once the meatballs are browned add the marinara sauce to the skillet and bring to a boil. Make sure the meatballs are gently moved so they do not stick to the bottom. Cover, lower the heat to a simmer, and continue to cook for 10-15 minutes or until meatballs are fully cooked. Garnish with more fresh chopped parsley or basil and serve over your favorite noodles or veggies. Enjoy!
